Alice Geniel Allred Loveless

Alice Geniel Allred Loveless (age 98) passed away peacefully on December 10, 2017 in Logan, Utah.
She was born July 30, 1919 in Fountain Green, UT to Wiley Eugene and Naomi Otterstrom Allred. She was the fifth of eight children.
Geniel was attending Brigham Young University in Provo Utah when she met Austin Gudmund Loveless. They were married on February 24, 1942 in San Antonio Texas where Austin was stationed at the first part of WWII. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 8, 1942. They are the parents of four children—Camille and Ronald who died in infancy, Annette and Debra.
Geniel received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from BYU in June 1950. She received her Master’s Degree from Utah State University in Instructional Media in June 1974. She worked from 1965 to 1984 as Librarian/Media Specialist at the Wilson Elementary School in Logan where she loved working with the children.
She is survived by her daughter, Annette (Peter) Brunson of Logan, brother, Morris (Betty) Allred of Fountain Green, 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was a very generous, caring person who loved to read and learn. Church, family and friends were very important to her. She served in many church positions including serving a full-time mission with Austin for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Iceland in 1984-86. She also served as a volunteer at the Logan Family History Center for 25+ years. She loved being with family and friends in their homes, at the family cabin and at Christmas when she would distribute over 140 dozen assorted homemade cookies. She wrote many notes, letters and e-mails to friends and family.
She was active in several organizations including Delta Kappa Gamma, Literary League, Retired Teachers Association, Utah Library Association and USU Emeriti.
The family would like to thank the staff at Terrace Grove Assisted Living and Sunshine Home and Hospice for their kindness and excellent care.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Logan Canyon Ward Church Building at 325 Lauralin Drive. There will be a viewing on Thursday evening, December 21 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St., Logan and from 9:30-10:30 prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions could be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
