Alice May Larson Larsen

February 11, 1925 — September 15, 2017

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother Alice May Larson Larsen who passed away peacefully on September 15, 2017. Alice was born in Nibley, Utah on February 11, 1925 to Alma Oscar Larson and Mary Baker Larson and was the second youngest of ten children.
Alice often spoke with fondness of her early life on the family farm in Nibley. Being one of the youngest in the family she was often called to help the older children with the many chores on the farm. She often recalled many of the memories she had working with her siblings. She was never afraid of hard work but did add that weeding, thinning and topping the sugar beets was some of her less favorite chores!
Alice attended South Cache High School and graduated in 1943. During her High School years, she demonstrated her love of music as a talented saxophone player in a four-piece band. She was also a member of the school band performing as a drum majorette. After graduation, she then attended Utah State University following in her mother’s footsteps to pursue a career in nursing. In her spare time, Alice loved to sew and became a talented seamstress. She took pride in making special dresses for all of her daughters.
Alice married Robert Louis Larsen of Logan in 1950. Quoting Alice, “while I was working as a nurse, I would often go into Al’s Bike and Sporting Goods store with the lame excuse of looking for used typewriters to buy.” She continued, “this was my excuse to meet who would eventually become the love of my life, Big Bob.” Robert and Alice were married in Logan in 1950 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Her husband Bob passed away in 1996.
Robert and Alice were the parents of seven children the youngest, Rodger Scott, being born with Down syndrome. Alice devoted her life to Scotty and to her dying day was concerned about him and his welfare. She often said that he was the greatest blessing in her life. Alice served in many capacities in the LDS Church. She and Bob worked for many years as officiators in the Logan Temple and also had the opportunity to serve a temple mission in New Zealand. She spoke often with great affection of their mission and love of the New Zealand people. Alice loved cooking for her family and friends and was famous for her steaming hot scones heaped with honey butter. She loved the missionaries and often fed and treated them as family.
Alice is survived by her children Sherry (James) Bullen, Linda Forzani, Robert Larsen, Jeff Larsen, Tamara Larsen, Kris (Coreen) Larsen, Scott Larsen and her last surviving sibling, Mildred Basset.
