Allison "Allie" Murray

April 30, 1925 — October 18, 2016

Augusta Allison Petersen Murray passed away in her home peacefully, surrounded by loved ones; October 18, 2016. She was born April 30, 1925 to John Albert and Ruby Caroline Nielsen Petersen. Allison was the youngest of seven children. Lewellyn (Edith), Homer (Isabelle), Lynn (Ione), Clair (Lila), Farren (LaRene) Petersen and Valoie (Wright) Dunn.

One of the most challenging times in Mom’s life was the loss of her dear mother at age 11. A few years later her father remarried and two younger brothers and two younger sisters were added to the family. Wayne (Julie), Earl (Sharie) Petersen, NayDean (Bill) Park and Laura (Harold) Lee. Mom always felt she was blessed with kind and generous brothers and sisters.

Mom attended Lincoln Elementary and South Cache High in Hyrum. When in her teens she met the love of her life, Dean Murray at a dance in Wellsville in the old purple church. After several months of courting, they were married in the Logan LDS Temple on June 2, 1942. They made their home in Wellsville, purchasing and operating the family farm. They raised five children there teaching them the value of good, honest, hard work.

Mom was dad’s right hand woman throughout their lives, always willing to get needed parts for broken machinery, seeds for planting, feeding the cows, watering the horses, and cooking the noon meals for hired hands.

She was always a hard worker, keeping a clean and orderly home, beautiful yard and large vegetable gardens. Not only did she have a plentiful garden, she loved sharing and canning all that it produced.

She was a great example of honesty, compassion, responsibility, commitment, dedication, gratitude, respect, humility and unconditional love.

She always loved and felt blessed living at the base of the beautiful “Wellsvilles.”

Allison’s children and grandchildren have been the center of her life. She leaves behind five children, Carolyn (Boyd) Cooper, deceased, Madelene (Dennis) McBride, Kristine (Allen) Scott, Rosemarie (Sid) Nyman, Curtis (Michelle) Murray, 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 8 great, great grandchildren. Siblings NayDean (Bill) Park, Wayne (Julie), Earl (Sharie) Petersen, Laura (Harold) Lee, in-laws Melvin (Ina) Murray and Mardene Murray.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and six siblings, and son-in-law, Boyd Cooper.
