Alton Hoffman

October 12, 1932 — December 10, 2014

LOGAN, UTAH: A. Alton Hoffman Jr. passed away Wednesday, December 10th, 2014 from injuries sustained in a horse riding accident. Alt was born and raised in Cache Valley. He was the eldest son of Albert Alton and Louise Syme Hoffman. He began working on the farm at age four and literally never stopped! He served in the US Army, attended Utah State University, and married his "Iranian Princess" Peggy Ann Smith. Together they became the proud parents of Shawna Lee and Beckie.
Alt worked for more than 40 years for Parson Companies. He was mentored and befriended by the owner/operator Jack B. Parson and their friendship was a very important part of his life. During those years, he also developed many lifelong relationships. After his retirement, he began working at Logan Golf and Country Club first under the direction of Randy Oldham and then for Paul Stokes. He was loved and admired by many patrons of the club and they will certainly miss his perfectly straight, groomed fairways and his ever present smile and conversation.
Alt was an avid hunter. He was most happy when in the mountains, on a horse, and enjoying the beauties of nature. One week after his 82nd birthday, his life-altering accident occurred on his favorite trail in Wood Camp.
Alt is survived by his spouse of 57 years, Peggy Ann Smith Hoffman, daughters Shawna Lee (Jerry) Jardine and Beckie (Brad) Jardine. He was the proud grandpa of five special grandchildren and their spouses Kelsey (Chris) Chlarson, Annie (Nate) Romrell, Bobbie (Matt) Liechty, Brody (Amber) Jardine, and Blair (Tyler) Munk. They also have nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Trudie (Ralph) Downs, Robert (Roberta) Hoffman and Carol Ricks (Jerry) Harrison.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 15th, at 12:00 pm in the Hillcrest 1st Ward chapel , 875 N. 1500 E. A viewing will be held Sunday evening, December 14th at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street from 6-8 and at the church on Monday from 10:30-11:30 prior to the services. Alton will be laid to rest following the services in the Logan City Cemetery with military honors. Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.allenmortuaries.net
