Ann Alene Seamons Shaw

August 7, 1921 — October 3, 2015

Ann Alene Seamons Shaw, age 94, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2015, at the Cache Valley Hospital in Logan. She was born August 7, 1921, in Hyde Park, Utah to James William and LeNora Ann Waite Seamons, the youngest of nine children. Her eight brothers and sisters have all preceded her in death.
She grew up in Hyde Park, graduating from North Cache High School and LDS Seminary in 1938. She then attended Utah State Agricultural College (USU) where she met William D. Shaw of Logan. They were married January 21, 1943, in the Logan LDS temple, after which they lived in California and Colorado as Bill finished his pilot training in the U.S. Army. Ann then moved back to Hyde Park with her family when Bill was assigned to the Philippine Islands to active service as a combat pilot in W.W. II. After Bill returned from the war, they lived in Logan and then lived 2 ½ years in Wisconsin for Bill’s employment and then back to Logan where they made their home.
Ann is the mother of six children and always felt her greatest joy and accomplishment was raising her children. After Bill’s death in 1973, Ann was invited to work as a cashier at the Bluebird Restaurant, which she did for several years and enjoyed her friendships and associations there. She also worked in the Logan LDS Temple registry office and enjoyed her service there.
She was a wonderful and meticulous homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and needlepoint, and many beautiful afghans, sweaters, and dining room chairs cushions were the result of her needlework. All her children and grandchildren will remember her sense of humor, wonderful homemade rolls, pies, and Christmas candy. She kept track of everyone in the family, even when the generations expanded.
Ann was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a fervent testimony of the Gospel. In addition to her brothers and sisters, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her daughter, Debra Shaw Buttars. She is survived by her other five children and their spouses: Deann and Lee Broadbent, Logan; David and Annette Shaw, Dixie and Steve VanWinkle, Duane and Marci Shaw, all of Sandy, Utah; and Daren and Louise Shaw of North Salt Lake and also a son in law, Cleve Buttars, Twin Falls, Idaho. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 71 great grandchildren
Funeral Services will be held at the Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan, on Saturday, October 10 at 11 a.m. with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Logan Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
