Bruce Randall Giddings

August 21, 1957 — September 13, 2017

Bruce Randall Giddings was dispatched to his final destination -- Heaven -- on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 -- after a tragic truck accident in Logan canyon. He was 60.
Bruce was born on Aug. 21, 1957, in Newport News, Va., but did most of his growing up in the Pacific Northwest. He attended Charles Wright Academy and graduated from Washington High School in Tacoma.
Bruce worked hard at every trade he tried, and there were many, including volunteer firefighter, custodian, carpenter, roofer, welder, landscaper, small business owner, and long-haul trucker.
He was a man of service and would help wherever he could.
He later moved to Logan, Utah, where he worked at Thomson Premier Lighting, and later The Sports Academy where he performed facilities maintenance. While in Logan he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
While at The Sports Academy he developed a lifelong friendship with Rob Speck.
He also met the former Melissa Hammond of Logan, who was a lifeguard there. Melissa often found reasons to “run into” Bruce. He and Melissa were married on January 24, 1998.
Bruce and Melissa started their life together in Sacramento, Calif., and quickly realized they wanted to be back in Logan to raise their family.
Mackenzie was born on Feb. 20, 2000, and she had him wrapped around her little finger from the moment he laid eyes on her. Bruce and Melissa were sealed as a family for time and all eternity on their anniversary in 2001. Rebecca came along soon after. She was born on Aug. 25, 2002. Becca has always had a special love for animals, which they shared together. Jeremy was born on March 13, 2005. Bruce was elated at Jeremy’s birth – he finally got a boy!
He then attended Bridgerland Applied Technology School in Logan where he earned his CDL. Bridgerland is where his love of trucking began.
Trucking enabled him to connect with many distant relatives and spend a lot of time with his family and friends while on the road. A place near and dear to his heart is Holden Village, near Chelan, Wash. He worked and volunteered there often with his family.
As a truck driver, he often referred to himself as a “commodities relocation specialist.” He found a home with DD Distribution. Through trucking he was able to develop special relationships with his children as they each took commodity relocation trips with him -- these will be cherished memories for the kids.
He is survived by his eternal companion Melissa; children: Heather Linderkamp (Matt) of Washington; Sara Peplowski (Patrick) of Maryland; Mackenzie, Rebecca, and Jeremy; two granddaughters, Jessica and Kaitlyn; parents Bill and Roxy of Washington; sister Laura (Chuck) of Washington; brother, Winfield of Washington. In-laws; Ron and Susan Hammond of Logan; Brandon Hammond (Charisa) of Oregon; Mikell Brown (Nick) of Nibley; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Anita Hammond; Frank and Hilder (Samuleson) Lindberg; Raleigh and Mabel (Rhoads) Sherman; Glenn and Lenore (Seydel) Giddings; birth father Frank K. Lindberg Jr.; brother Frank (Buzzy) Lindberg III; and best friend, Rob Speck.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, Sept. 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., Logan.
Funeral services for Bruce will be held Friday, Sept. 22 in the Mormon chapel on 600 N. 100 W. in Logan. The funeral begins at noon, preceded by another viewing from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be held at Logan Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
