Cheryl Jean Winter Holmes

September 6, 1932 — March 9, 2017

Cheryl Holmes died of natural causes early Thursday morning before "first light", on March 9, 2017. She was born the fourth daughter of Peter & Mabel Winter of Huntsville, Utah on September 6, 1932.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and a member of the Durfee Camp, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was the secretary at Valley School for many years and then worked in the graduation office at Weber State University until she retired.
She married Avan L. Holmes on August 6, 1952 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They built a home in Liberty, Utah where they raised 3 children. Marlynn, Kim, & Mitch. She was an excellent cook and a skilled seamstress. She loved her flowers, puzzles and cats.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three sisters. She is survived by her children: Merlynn (Dale) Fowers, Hooper; Kim (Sue) Holmes, Plain City; & Mitch (Carol) Holmes, Liberty; as well as 8 grandchildren & 12 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 11 am at the Liberty Cemetery for family & friends. Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.allenmortuaries.net
