Connie Egbert Hammond

August 26, 1923 — January 10, 2017

Connie Egbert Hammond, our beautiful Mother and Grandmother, was reunited with her eternal sweetheart, Arthur Hammond, on Tuesday evening, January 10, 2017. She passed away peacefully at Logan Regional Hospital.
Connie was born August 26, 1923 in Valview, Teton County, Idaho, to Edzell and Marion Egbert. She was the fifth of six children born to this family. She had three brothers; Alan, James, and Irwin, and two sisters Clara and Marjorie. She has always had a fun and loving relationship with her family.
She grew up in Tetonia, Idaho at the foot of the Teton Peaks, and part of her heart was always there.
Connie met and fell in love with a handsome man, Arthur Hammond, from Providence, Utah when he came to Teton Valley to work at his uncles hardware store. They wrote to each other during World War II while Art served in the Navy. After his return home, they were married June 5, 1946 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Art brought her to Utah to live and they made their home in Providence, where they raised their five children. Our Father passed away in July, 1994.
Mom and Dad loved to dance and they spent many hours waltzing, square dancing, and dancing at Gold and Green Balls. Mom also loved to sing and had a beautiful alto voice. Favorite family memories are of Dad and Mom singing together at home, in the car, or whenever they had the chance! Mom sang with a trio and and performed in many programs, church activities, and funerals.
Mom was active in the LDS Church and has served in many callings. One of her most memorable was serving with her sweetheart in the Palmyra, New York Mission at the Peter Whitmer Farm.
Dad and Mom purchased a Fifth-wheel trailer after their retirement and spent many happy times with friends camping, and spending winters in St. George and Arizona. They were members of the Good Sams's Club. They loved to travel and would jump at the chance to travel anywhere with family and friends.
She worked at Wurlitzer's piano factory and Wilkinson's stationary store, where she made many lifelong friends at both places. Her favorite work, however, was that of mother and homemaker! Mom was an excellent cook and our home was always filled with the aroma of home cooked meals, fresh baked goodies, and homemade bread, which she still made until not long ago! Her fudge, rice pudding, and white sugar crunchies are family favorites.
Connie is survived by their five children; Coreen (Brent) Speth of Providence; Lynn (Debra Miller) of Hyrum; Rex of Hyrum; Jeanine (David) Atwood of Providence; and Todd of Providence. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, with another one on the way! She is also survived by her brother, Irwin (Darlene) Egbert of Idaho Falls, Idaho; sister-in-laws Merilee Egbert of Driggs, Idaho; and Carol Hammond of Salt Lake City, Utah. She was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Arthur Hammond, a son-in-law David Atwood, her parents, and two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the LDS Church House; 464 North 300 East in Providence, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:00 until 11:30 prior to the services at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
