Cora Jean Wood was born in Driggs, Idaho to Elwin Dustin Wood and Elda Buxton. Cora learned some valuable lessons from her childhood on a rural farm. Raised at the base of the Teton Mountains, Cora loved the majestic views and always appreciated the beauty of the mountains, flowers and all of God’s creations. Cora grew to love God and desired to follow His Son, Jesus Christ. She learned to work hard and be creative. She learned to serve others and treat them with respect and honesty. She learned to value relationships above worldly acquisitions and success. It was these values and characteristics that Deloy G Hendricks appreciated when they met at college in Moscow, Idaho and became best friends. They were married June 13, 1962 in the Idaho Falls temple and began their 55 year adventure together. They raised 6 girls and 1 son. Cora’s teaching degree gave her the title of “teacher”, but it was her ability to lead by example and inspired precepts that allowed her to touch and changes lives for good, like the Master Teacher himself, Jesus Christ. Her favorite “titles” included, Wife, Mother, Grandma and Great-grandma. Cora was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and provided compassionate service by quietly serving diligently and humbly in many capacities with an empathetic heart and a listening ear. She loved creating meals, canning and sewing and was generous in sharing her talents. Cora was known for her homemade caramels, but she felt her greatest achievement was creating an eternal family that loves God and His Son. The life Cora chose was beautifully simple and simply beautiful. She lived an uncomplicated life that leaves a legacy of love that will last for eternity.
