Darrell T. Bradshaw

August 23, 1933 — November 20, 2014

Darrell Bradshaw, 81, returned to his Heavenly Father on November 20, 2014. He was born on August 23, 1933 in Wellsville, UT to Thomas and Lettie Bradshaw, and remained in Wellsville for most of his life. Growing up on the family farm, Darrell and his five siblings learned the value of hard work early in life. He attended elementary school in Wellsville and graduated from South Cache High School. He attended USU until enlisting in the US Navy for four years of service. While stationed in Alameda, CA, Darrell met Shirley Bagley. They were married in Mariposa, CA on March 19, 1955.

After his service in the Navy, and a short stint as a mechanic for Trans Ocean Airlines, Darrell moved his little family home to Utah. He found work installing auto glass and as an aircraft mechanic, but eventually developed a career as a quality assurance inspector for the Air Force at HAFB and Thiokol. While his civilian service with the Air Force was his primary career, Darrell also found time to run a farm where he raised multiple crops, and ran a herd of beef cattle.

Darrell instilled the value of hard work into each of his children. He lived by the principle of “do it right or do it over”. His love for gardening is something he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Nothing changed his love for the land – not even old age, achy joints or limited vision. In recent years Darrell expressed that he was past his prime and that “there would be no more garden”. But as each new spring rolled around, out came the seeds and Darrell got to work planting his “never again garden”.

Many knew Darrell as an avid outdoorsman. The man could catch a fish wherever there was water, and was always generous with his bountiful catch. Darrell had many fond memories of hunting deer, pheasants, ducks and geese with good friends. Yellowstone was always a favorite vacation destination. Darrell spent many a day in the Park during his boyhood days as a scout. Each July he and Shirley would pack up the kids for their annual Yellowstone fishing trip. In recent years Darrell’s limited vision didn’t stop him from fishing and he and Shirley were frequent patrons to many of the valley’s fishing holes.

Darrell and Shirley were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple for time and all eternity. He is survived by his five children: Julie & Daryl Anderson (Deweyville, UT), Janet Anderson (Logan, UT), Linda & Mark Hunter (Afton, WY), Laura & Strat Roper (Preston, ID) and John & Valerie Bradshaw (Gorham, ME); ten grandsons, five granddaughters, three great-grandsons and four great granddaughters with more on the way; one sister: Eunice & Jerry Gittins; a brother-in-law: John Cook; and two aunts: Margie Noble and Carma Bradshaw. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Jean Sorenson; Marie Cook; brother: Paul Bradshaw and son-in-law: Dallas Anderson.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bohman, Dr. Huffman, the nursing and hospice staffs at Logan Regional Hospital, and all other community and ward members who helped care for our father over the past few years.

Thank you for all the life-lessons Dad! We love you and can’t wait to fish new streams with you again!!! Catch a big one!
