Dennis Jensen Alder

January 22, 1924 — September 28, 2014

Dennis Jensen Alder, 90, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, September 28, 2014.
Born in Preston, Idaho, to Paul and Stella Alder, he was the third son of a family of three boys and two girls. The family moved to Whitney, Idaho, where he attended grade school up to the fourth grade then moved to Nibley, then Providence and then settling in Logan and graduating from Logan High School.
Dennis served in the U.S. Air Corp as a gunner in a B-29 bomber during WWII. His plane was part of the "show of force" which flew over the Japanese surrender ceremony that ended the war. Upon returning home, his sister introduced him to her friend, Lela Haskell. They were at a dance at the Dansante in Logan. On Dec. 5, 1946 they were married in the Logan Temple. They moved to Salt Lake where Dennis attended the Salt Lake Business College, graduating in accounting. He received many awards and was recognized for his typing and accounting skills. Being offered a job as the District Auditor, they moved back to Logan where he worked at the Courthouse for the Utah State Tax Commission, retiring in 1985. After retirement, Dennis and
Lela were able to enjoy a trip to Israel.
Faithful in the LDS Church, he has served in many positions, including bishop, being on the High Council and serving a six month mission at the Family History Center at the Logan Tabernacle.
Besides being a wonderful, devoted husband, Dennis is a loving and caring father, grandfather and great- grandfather. The family has enjoyed many camping trips, spending time water skiing and exploring the waters of Lake Powell.
Children include Kent (Donna) Alder, LaNea Loosle, Lee (Michele) Alder, Craig (Leslie)
Alder, and Scott (Cheryl) Alder. Added to the family are 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 2, 2014 at noon in the Logan 6th Ward Chapel, 94 West 600 South. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 1st from 6-8 pm at Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street and from 10:30-11:30 at the church prior to services.
Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences & memories will be shared online at www.allenmortuaries.net
