Ella B. Jensen

July 18, 1925 — January 14, 2015

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Ella Bowen Jensen, 89, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 of natural causes after weeks of declining health.

Ella was born July 18, 1925 in River Heights, Utah to Lewis and Adelaide Bowen. She had 4 sisters and 3 brothers. One brother and sister passed away at very early ages before Ella was born. She spent her growing up years in River Heights with her remaining 3 sisters and 2 brothers, where they made wonderful memories together. Ella stayed very close to her brothers and sisters and cherished her times with them. Ella was the last remaining sibling of this wonderful close-knit family.

Ella graduated from South Cache High School and then pursued a college education, traveled with friends and then returned to Logan. She met her sweetheart, LaVal Monson Jensen, while they were both working at the Sears in Logan Utah. They were married in the Logan Temple on May 4, 1956. They were the proud parents of two children, Janette Ella Cole and LaVal Bowen Jensen. They spent 15 years in the Salt Lake area and then moved to Lewiston Utah to run the family farm. They lived in Lewiston until 1996, when Ella moved to Smithfield, after the unexpected passing away of her husband. She lived there for 9 years and then moved to North Logan until her death.

Ella was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings, and loved going to the Temple on a regular basis. Ella was a member of the Lewiston Literary Club for many years and cherished those friendships. She was a wonderful homemaker and a fabulous cook. Oh how we loved her homemade chocolates and playing many games at her home. Ella was a hard worker and taught her children the value of work. She and her two children often would be doing all the chores on the farm as her husband worked in Salt Lake and commuted everyday for 15 years. She never complained and she always had a smile on her face. Ella always had a beautiful garden. She could grow anything and all of her family and many friends benefited from her green thumb. It was always a treasure to go to her home and feel of her love for everyone who entered her door. She truly loved her family and treasured her children and grandchildren.

Ella was preceded in death by her husband, LaVal and her daughter Janette. She is survived by her son, LaVal (SueAnn) Jensen of North Logan, Utah; Son-in-Law, Jim (Sherri) Cole; Grandchildren Josh (Alyssa) Jensen, Elder Corey Jensen, Alisha (Curtis) Johnson, Amber (Doug) Jenson, Becky (Michael) Gurr, Nathan Cole and Ryan Cole, Sister-in-law, Donna May Bowen.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan. A Viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the Preston, Idaho Cemetery.
