Cache Valley – Eric Jon Robinson of Logan, Utah, passed away Aug. 31, 2014, in Logan, Utah. Eric was born November 21, 1968, in Spokane, Washington, to ElRay and Carol Bitter Robinson. He was a very outgoing, gregarious young man, always up for an adventure. Eric spent his toddler years on a farm north of Spokane, his adolescent years on a farm in Lewiston, Utah, and his teenage years living at the mouth of Providence Canyon where excitement and intrigue were just a block or two away in the mountains. Eric had a kind heart and loved working with young scouts – getting them excited about the adventures scouting offered. He became an Eagle Scout at age 17. After graduating from Mountain Crest High School where Eric was totally involved in student activities and was voted the “Biggest Flirt” of his graduating class, he moved with his family to Huntsville, Alabama. While there Eric joined the United States Army, and served on active duty and the Reserves for eight years. Eric was always eager to help with whatever project was at hand. He would usually show up and say, “Specialist Robinson reporting for duty, sir!” Eric was always deeply spiritual and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We were all blessed to have been a part of his life.

After returning home to Cache Valley, Eric became a brick and block mason. His beautiful work can be seen all over the valley in churches and University buildings. He loved doing fancy arches and corners where perfection was the only acceptable way to do it. Eric had a devious streak. Only his closest friends know about the way he “branded” his work. Many of the buildings he worked on are marked with his subtle and endearing label. Eric loved high adventure and spent several months during the past three years working on a new barracks at Bellows Air Force Base, Hawaii and a Marine Corp facility just south of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. During his time there he explored the “gathering place” island from end to end and delighted in telling about the giant breakers on the North Shore, the hidden waterfalls in a corner of the tropical jungle, snorkeling in a remote cove by Kailua, and the insidious traffic of Honolulu.

Eric loved rocks! He has visited every cache of gems from Canada to Mexico and collected specimens from most of them. He could tell you all about the chemical composition of vericite, topaz, jade, fire agate, and so on. He made beautiful jewelry from these treasures and delighted in giving them to his friends.

Eric loved puppy dogs, rabbits and all furry things, but family and dear friends were his real treasures. He loved his nieces and nephews more than himself. He would tease them to pieces and spoil them rotten.

Eric is survived by his parents of Hyrum, his brothers James (Kathy) Robinson of Star Valley, Wyoming and Justin (Lynne) Robinson of Heber City, Utah; his sisters Jenifer (Erik) Skogstad of Henderson, Nevada and Margo (Erik) Burlile of Ogden, Utah. He is also survived by 19 nieces and nephews: Alexandra, Connor, Brennen, Kelten, Levi, Katie, Joshua, Cole, Jessie, Mark, Jaclynne, Jade, Jacob, Isabella. Grand nieces and nephews: Azure, Talon, Edalynne, Eric, Eliza. Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, cousin Jon Searle, and nephew Devin Cudney.

A celebration of Eric's life with full military honors will be held at noon Saturday, September 6th at A.J. Park, 8 miles up Blacksmith Fork Canyon, casual dress. The family will greet friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. that morning at the Park. Interment will be at the family plot in the Logan City Cemetery.
