Fearn Rolla Vest

Fearn Rolla Vest passed away peacefully at the Beehive Assisted Living Center in Logan, Utah on Saturday April 7, 2018. He was born on July 29, 1935 in Payson, Utah to John Rolla and Ruby Olsen Vest. He was the youngest of 4 boys. Growing up, Fearn learned the value of hard work helping his parents with the family farm. There he learned the art of fixing things.

He graduated from Payson High School and then went on to graduate from BYU, earning a B.S. in Agronomy. He also served in the US Army during the Korean war as a Signal Corps.
He was sealed to Anna Venone Cegler on April 16, 1959 in the Manti Utah LDS temple. They had 8 children together.

He worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Kayenta, Arizona, Moenave, Arizona and then settling in Tuba City, Arizona. He also worked for Williams Brothers in Tulsa, Oklahoma and then moved his family back to Kayenta, Arizona to work for the Peabody Coal Company. Later they moved to Page, Arizona where he lived until after Anna passed away in 2004.
He was then sealed to Susanne Van Wagenen on February 14, 2005 in the Provo Utah LDS Temple. In 2006 they served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Illinois Nauvoo Mission. Shortly after they returned home from their mission they moved to Logan, Utah. Fearn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church callings. He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ. He had a love for music, frequently using his beautiful tenor voice while on his Nauvoo mission. He was productive and kept busy both physically and spiritually throughout his entire life until he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

He is survived by his loving wife Sue and his children: Kerry Lynn (Wellsville, UT), Noreen (Brent) Edwards (Lehi, UT), Mark Elden (Cheri) (Colton, OR), JoAnna (Karl) Foster (Boise, ID), Michael Owen (Jeong Myong) (Sellersville, PA), George William (Leah) (Craig, CO), Julene (Jonathan) Levans (Birmingham, AL), Karalie (Glen Boreth) (Molalla, OR). Sue added to his large family by bringing in 4 more daughters and one more son: Colleen Morrison (Logan), Karen Tibbits (Taylorsville), Linda Hatch (California), Brian Van Wagenen (California) and Laura Westover (Taylorsville). Between the two of them, they enjoyed more than 50 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary and will be held on Monday, April 16 at the Hillcrest 1st Ward building, located at 875 N 1500 E Logan, Utah at 10:30am. A viewing will be held before the funeral from 9:00am - 10:00am. Interment with military honors will be at the Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park.
