Geraldine "Jeri" Larsen Laurence

Jeri Laurence (85) passed away peacefully Oct 11th, 2017 at Monte Vista Hills in Pocatello Idaho.
Jeri was born in Logan, Utah on Oct 5, 1932 the fourth daughter to George W. and Emily Rose Larsen. Jeri’s formative years were in Logan, Utah. She contracted Polio in her adolescent years causing her severe scoliosis and poor health in her later years. Jeri graduated from Logan High School, attended one year of college before moving to Richland, WA. She was employed at the Atomic Energy Commission.
Jeri returned to Utah for employment at Hill Air Force in Ogden where she met her future husband on a blind date. She married Dennis E. Laurence Dec 7th, 1953 in the Logan LDS temple. They moved a few years later to Pocatello, Idaho where Dennis was enrolled in the Idaho State University Vo-Tech Upholstery program.
Jeri and Dennis were blessed with one son Scott D. Laurence in February 1957. Two weeks later they moved back to Logan, Utah where Dennis started his business Laurence Custom Upholstery. Jeri was employed as deputy clerk for the Cache County Hall of Justice during that period. August of 1971 they moved once again back to Pocatello, Idaho where Dennis had accepted the position as instructor of the Idaho State University Applied Technology Upholstery program. Jeri found employment at the Bannock County judicial system before becoming secretary to the district manager of Blue Cross of Idaho. Her last employment was the Tumor Registrar at Intermountain Cancer Center.
Jeri had a compassionate heart, loved by her co-workers and friends throughout the years before her health deteriorated. She was very close to her three older sisters and together they all had quite a sense of humor. Jeri believed a woman should always look her best when out in public she was known for wearing jewelry at all times. She loved dogs especially Dachshunds which she bred and sold for many years.
Jeri was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints, she held various positions which included singing, temple work with her late husband and helping others.
Jeri is survived by her son, Scott D. Laurence (Corinne) Pocatello, grandsons Jason S. Laurence (SLC, UT), Chad M. Laurence, Pocatello, ID, granddaughter Dr. Ashley Laurence (spouse Keith Foster) of San Diego CA. Two great-granddaughters Makyley and Bentley Laurence of Pocatello, ID.
She is proceeded in death by her husband of 59 years Dennis Laurence, 2013. Her parents, sisters Emily Rose Napper, Marjorie Olsen, Georgia Jorgensen and their husbands all of Logan, Utah.
The family would like to thank the staff of Monte Visa Hills Healthcare and Encompass Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Jeri Laurence. Bart and Tina Reed, Casie Jensen for faithfully visiting her. Your compassion was unbelievable we thank you.
A graveside service only will be at Logan City Cemetery, 1000 N 1200 East, Logan, Utah at noon on Monday, Oct. 16th, 2017. Jeri had requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Bannock Humane Society in her name. Graveside services are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary, and memories and condolences may be expressed at www.allenmortuaries.net
