Helen Stott Stokes

Helen Stott Stokes 1928 - 2017 WELLSVILLE, Utah - Helen Elizabeth Stott Stokes, wife of Andrew Ray Stokes, was born May 6, 1928, and passed away Oct. 3, 2017. She was the daughter of John William Stott and Elsie Mary Strauser and had four siblings: John, Frank, Mary and George. Her early years were spent on a sheep ranch in Harrisville, Alberta, Canada, where she learned the value of hard work and being a team member. Following high school, she attended Weber State College, then graduated from Utah State University with a teaching degree. While teaching fourth grade at Paradise Elementary School, she met and married her sweetheart Andy. They built their own home and raised a family of four: Linda (Dale) Hunt, Susan, Ray (Pam) and Gary (Lisa). Grandchildren numbered 17, and great-grandchildren to date total 34, with three great-great-grandchildren. She was very involved in her community and church, particularly the Primary organization. Cub Scouts in her den will undoubtedly recall making volcanoes, learning about crystal radios, and numerous other adventurous projects. In recent years, she served two separate two-year missions with Andy: one at Beehive Clothing and another in the Logan LDS Temple. Personal interests included quilting, making Christmas chocolates and gingerbread houses, gardening and canning the fresh produce. She made fabulous hot rolls and grew a lovely flower garden. Helen was an incredibly talented and creative woman. Precious memories made with her will remain forever. Special thanks to Sunshine Hospice for their loving care of Mom. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Wellsville 5th Ward, 660 S. 100 West. There will be a viewing held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary and at the church Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Wellsville City Cemetery.
