Jacky J. Hancey

July 22, 1931 — April 17, 2016

Jacky J. Hancey age 84, loving wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma passed away on April 17, 2016. She was born July 22, 1931 the second child of 5 children born to Morgan and Phillis Jessop Jenson in Millville, UT. She grew up on a family farm where she learned to love and respect all animals and gained a special love for horses. She married Owen R. Hancey on August 29, 1955. Together the two of them raised seven children, Steve (Linda) Hancey Millville, UT, Sandy (Steve) Wright Mt. Sterling, UT, Shonna (Lee) Jensen Logan, UT, Dawn Williams Millville, UT, Fran Call Millville, UT, Kyle (June) Hancey Millville, UT, and the late Linda Hancey.
As a teenager Jacky was a waitress but soon found working on the farm milking cows and riding horses was much more rewarding. Jacky was hard working, loved the outdoors, mountains, animals, and most of all serving her community. She was very active as a 4-H horse leader, a member of the Cache Wildlife Federation aka “The Millville Elk Lady”, and an active member on many rodeo boards and committees. She loved her grandchildren and passed on many of her childhood experiences to them; grand entry flag carrying, barrel racing, feeding the elk and deer, deer hunting, and anything else that taught them hard work and stern discipline. Jacky always looked forward to the Cache County Fair and Rodeo, holidays to celebrate with family, and heading up Millville canyon for the annual deer hunt. She was a longtime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
There is nothing that she loved more than her family, we are going to miss her everyday but will always remember the valuable life lesson she has taught us. She is survived by six of her eight children, 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, her brother Gary Jenson, and her sister Iva Lou Ropelato. She is proceeded in death by her husband Owen R. Hancey, parents Morgan & Phillis Jenson, her sister Kitty Jenson, her brother Bud Jenson, her daughter Linda Hancey, and her son baby boy Hancey. The family would also like to thank Dr. Douglas Maready and the staff at the transitional care unit at Logan Regional Hospital for taking such great care of our mom.
Funeral services will be held Friday April 22, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Millville 3rd Ward chapel, 110 S. Main Millville. Friends may call Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. Logan, UT and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Millville church. Interment will be in the Millville City Cemetery.
