Janice Beth Robertson

August 22, 1930 — February 17, 2015

Janice Beth Robertson, 84, our beloved mother and grandmother passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in Logan, Utah. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 22, 1930 to Wilford E. and Isabel Phelps. Beth was the oldest of six children and learned the value of hard work by living and working on a farm. After graduating from Jordan High School, she went to work to earn money for the formal education she dearly desired. During this time she was called to serve a mission to the British Columbia, Canada Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The spirit of missionary work never left her. She later attended Brigham Young University where she began working on a degree in education. Her studies were interrupted when she married her devoted husband, Douglas A. Robertson in the Salt Lake Temple, on October 12, 1956. After several years, Beth resumed her formal education and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in education. Beth loved teaching second grade and taught for several years in the Jordan School District. She loved children which was evidenced by the many neighborhood children that would knock on her door asking if she could play.
Beth served in many auxiliaries in the Church. Even though she served in many leadership positions, her favorite calling was teaching the primary children. She served as a temple worker along with with her husband, Douglas in the Jordan River Temple for many years.
She loved to read, travel, and had a special gift for reaching out to people. She made friends wherever she went. Her greatest love was her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grand-children. Remembering birthdays was very important to her. Her children and grandchildren could always look forward to a card or phone call.
She is survived by her children, Brian J. (Elaine), Tonia (Lynn), eleven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Douglas A. Robertson, who passed away March 3, 2011.
Friends may call Monday, February 23 from 10:30 –11:30 a.m. prior to services at noon in the Crescent 7th Ward Chapel, 949 East, 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. Interment will follow at Camp Williams V.A. Cemetery.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff of Sunshine Terrace and Primrose Hospice for your kind and loving care of our dear mother.
