Jared Kirk Smith

August 11, 1973 — January 10, 2017

Jared Kirk Smith, 43, passed away from complications due to heart failure on January 10, 2017 at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah with his loved ones by his side.
Jared as born August 11, 1973 in Logan, Utah to Roger Hendricks Smith and Eva Kathryn Parkinson. He married his sweetheart Cindy Allen on September 12, 2015 at Beaver Mountain. They made their home in Richmond with a back door view of the family ranch and mountains he loved so much.
Jared attended Park Elementary & North Cache Middle School in Richmond, graduating from Sky View High School in 1992. He earned his Technical Degree in Industrial Maintenance from BATC. He worked for multiple construction companies in Cache Valley, Dutro’s, as a fabricator, and at the time of his death, Paragon Medical, as a machinist.
He is a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jared loved his family and friends, he was always on call and willing to help when the need arose. He loved the family ranch and everything that comes with it, from working the ground to wrangling, branding and feeding cows. He always said “I would love to farm full time if I could make any money at it!” He enjoyed hunting, horse riding and riding around the ranch in his ranger. Jared had many fix-it skills including welding and was always willing when friends & family needed his help. He enjoyed snowmobiling with his buddies in Logan canyon, skiing at Beaver Mountain in his youth and later with Cindy, pack horse rides in the Teton Wilderness and coffee with all his friends at LD’s. Jared was an old soul in a young man’s body, he loved talking to people of all ages.
He loved family gatherings and enjoyed playing with and teasing his nieces and nephews. Jared has always loved animals especially his dog Triger. But the best part of his life came on May 10, 2014 when he met his “Darlin” on a blind date (thank you Shirley!) where they talked for hours as if they had known each other their whole life. That was the happiest 2 ½ years of their lives!
He is survived by his wife Cindy Allen, his parents Roger & Kathy; siblings Jason, Shelly Schiess, Justin (Amber) all of Richmond UT, Shawn (Teresa) of Wellsville UT, his nieces and nephews and his 2nd best friend Triger. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Dean & AlDean Smith and Harry & Eva Parkinson, his father in-law and mother in-law Dale & Karroll Allen.
