Joyce Mcnulty

February 10, 1933 — November 25, 2017

Joyce Reeder Smith McNulty born February 10, 1933 in Logan, Utah to Stanley Martin Reeder and Phebe Loray Daines passed away on November 25, 2017 in Logan, Utah from complications of a stroke. Joyce grew up in the small town of Hyde Park, Utah among family and friends, where they roller skated, rode horses, hiked in the hills, and visited each other. Joyce and her brother Russ were very close and remained best friends always. She graduated from North Cache High School and attended Utah State College. There she met Donald Allen Smith from Nebraska who was attending Utah State on a football scholarship. When Don received his MS degree they were married and moved to Shoshone, Idaho where he was hired as a game warden. They later moved to Salmon, Idaho, Brigham City, Utah, Centerville, Utah, and then Salt Lake City, Utah where she has resided ever since. Two boys were born to this union, Scott Wayne Smith and Michael Dean Smith. Don became Director of the Utah Department of Wildlife Resources, and Joyce and boys learned to hunt, camp, fish, ride horses and ski. Joyce worked at Utah State University, Brigham City Intermountain Indian School, and retired from the University of Utah after 28 years of service. She always said her job was perfect. Her hobbies were reading, traveling, sewing, hunting, fishing, entertaining, and playing bridge in several clubs. Her friends were very important to her and she stayed in touch with them throughout her life. She loved being a mom. She later married Dr. Irving (Bill) McNulty, and they were able to travel extensively during their marriage. She is a member of DUP where she served as treasurer. Unfortunately, both of her boys passed away before her, which broke her heart. Joyce is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has a strong testimony of our Savior.
She is survived by her brother, Russell Ray Reeder (Ruth) Logan, Utah; two daughters-in-law, Cindy Smith, Taylorsville, Utah; Julie Ann Smith Green (David), North Salt Lake City, Utah; Grandchildren, Chelsie Ann Draney (Clark); Joshua Dean Smith (Jennifer); Tyler Scott Smith (Whitney).
