Julia Pearce Owens, 94, passed away on February 28, 2018 in the company of loved ones. She was born and raised in Paradise, Utah, where all four of her grandparents were among the founders of Paradise. She was the daughter of Warren Davenport Pearce and Jane Oldham Pearce.
She graduated from South Cache High School and completed bookkeeping courses at Stevens-Henager. After which she worked in Salt Lake City, when a friend introduced her to Lloyd Owens. After their first date she remarked to her friend, “I wouldn’t marry him if he was the last man on Earth.” However, he had other ideas, and on June 23, 1956 they were married.
While she held various jobs outside the home her priority was always family. She loved being surrounded by friends and family. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission with Lloyd to Peru. She especially loved to work with children and the sisters of the Relief Society. She made hundreds of knit caps for Humanitarian projects and many baby blankets for friends and ward members. She was also a member of the Daughter of Utah Pioneers.
She is survived by her children, Juliana (Scott) Larsen, Larry Owens, and Gary (Terri) Owens; 8 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express thanks and appreciation to three groups of amazing caregivers who have cared for mom; Dr. Steven Salisbury and his staff, the Rocky Mountain Care facility, and CNS Hospice. All are filled with loving professional that serve their patients well.
