Lois Savage Hugie

March 24, 1929 — May 21, 2015

Lois Savage Hugie-86 passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones. Lois was born March 24, 1929 to Emmett and Delomb Savage in Hyrum, Utah.
She married Cecil Calvin Hugie on May 31, 1945. They spent their entire married life of 65 years living in Hyrum until Cecil preceded her in death on January 16, 2010. Also, preceding her in death were her parents, 3 sisters-Anna May, Betty Johns and Idabelle Sanders, 2 sons-Alan and Gary, 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by 2 Sisters and 1 brother-Gwen Richardson, Carol Craythorn and Lynn Savage. She is, also, survived by the following children-Karen Lewis, Dave (Arlene), Mary Busenbark (Jerry), Clair (Gay), Cindy Roper (Garry), Lois Low (Garth), Calvin (Diane), Nyla Johnson (Kelly) and a daughter-in-law Pam (Alan).
She is a Grandmother to 54 Grandchildren, 149 Great-Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren, and loved by many others.
Lois was widely known for her sewing accomplishments and spent her years sharing this talent. She taught herself to sew at the young age of 16th and developed a talent that was enjoyed by many. She worked with each High School in the valley doing drill team and cheer leading outfits for many years as well as schools throughout Utah and at times, even California. She did costume design and sewing for the Glen Miller Show at Utah State for 27 years and Pickleville Playhouse for 37 years. She was involved in drill teams with Utah State University and Dixie College for a number of years. She was widely known for wedding dresses and spent many hours, along with her husband Cecil, to put extra effort into each dress to make these special for the new brides. Most of her grand-daughters benefited from this accomplishment. She could tackle anything and was professional at making things look better than if you had purchased it from the factory.
Lois’ favorite past time was traveling and spending time with her family and her sweet husband. She traveled through a lot of the U.S. and spent time in Alaska and Germany with family. She loved to go and even a trip into Logan made her day an event with Cecil.
We are so proud to call her and Cecil, Mom and Dad. We are so grateful that we were blessed to have them as parents. They were both great examples and good support to us and we will always love them for it. We will miss them greatly, but we are so happy to have them together again. Love you Mom and Dad.
Funeral Services for Lois will be held on Tuesday, May 26th at 12:00 Noon in the Hyrum Utah North Stake Center at 245 North Apple Drive in Hyrum. A viewing will be held prior to this from 10:30 to 11:30. On Monday, May 25th, friends and family may pay their respect to the Lois Hugie Family at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center in Logan from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Hyrum Cemetery.
We would like to express our gratitude for the tender care given to Mom during her stays at Logan Regional Hospital. We, are, especially grateful to those in the ICU unit who worked to make her last days more comfortable and for their kind consideration to the family.
We, also, want to express thanks to all those who showed love for Mom and did special things for her and gave her such joy. She loved having people around her and she was loved by all those who knew her.
