Ludene Baird Campbell

Born in Clear Creek, Utah, July 2, 1924, to Walter Arden and Effa Baird Campbell, Lu died July 14, 2015 in Providence, Utah.
The Depression took Lu and his family to Emmett, Idaho, when his parents bought a 40-acre farm for $3900. He graduated from Emmett High School in 1942. Summer jobs at the saw mill and on fire crews convinced him that College was a must. Studies at BYU were interrupted with military service to the South Pacific as a SeaBee (Oct 1943-March 1946) and a LDS mission to England (1948-1950). Graduation finally happened in 1953. Lu worked for the U.S. Soil Conservation Service for 32 years (1954-1986) and had the opportunity to work in many locations, including Saudi Arabia.
He bravely married Dorothy (Dotti) Cottle Earl on September 26, 1958, in the Logan LDS Temple --acquiring three children in the deal. Those lucky kids welcomed a brother in 1960 and built their home in Providence that same year. Besides his numerous Church callings, Lu was a founding member of the Cache County Jeep Patrol, having turned a gentle Jeepster into a 4-wheel-drive, tree-climbing fun machine. It remains in the family today. Lu also enjoyed being a member of the Providence Lion’s Club.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dotti; children Pat, Tina, and Charlie; daughter-in-law Trudy Blossom; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grands; and one brother, Lyle. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 siblings and their spouses; son Mike Earl; and many friends who greet him now.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 21, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan, Utah. Friends and family may call at the mortuary on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00pm and on tuesday morning one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Providence City Cemetery.
