Marie B Thompson

October 15, 1919 — May 4, 2017

Marie Bolton Thompson returned to her Heavenly Father on May 4, 2017. Marie was born October 15, 1919 in Bennett, Utah on Indian Bench. She was the daughter of Mervin Curtis Bolton and Nellie McKowen. Marie was the second oldest of 6 siblings. She grew up on a farm where she obtained a good work ethic.

She met Morland Thompson, the love of her life at the age of 14 at a marshmallow roast in the river bottoms. They dated for two years and married September 12, 1935. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple May 27, 1947. Marie and Morland raised 6 children: Clinton (JoAnn), Ronald (Ann), Dennis (Marsha), Curtis (Sharen), Tamra (Rex Gustaveson), and Mark (Gina).

Times were hard during their life and they made their living tilling the ground, raising their own animals, bartering their excess for things they needed, and working as hired hands on ranches. Marie and Morland moved from the Uintah Basin to find work due to hard times. They eventually settled their home in Providence, Utah.

Marie and Morland taught their children to be honest, work hard, and share with others. Marie loved her children very much and was proud of their accomplishments. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Marie also enjoyed providing service for church functions and families in need. She’s famous for her chicken livers, vinegar cucumbers, and home remedies such as mustard plasters.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Della, Gerald, Arthur, Orlando, husband Morland, and her two sons Clinton and Dennis. She is survived by her children Ronald, Curtis, Mark, and Tamra. Marie’s posterity includes 23 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
