Marvin R Perkes

Marvin "Mutt" Perkes, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Friend passed away on Saturday May 14, 2016 surrounded by his Family.
He was born October 4, 1935 in Hyde Park, Utah to Vernon and Gertrude Seamons Perkes. He grew up in Hyde Park where he attended school. He graduated from North Cache High School in 1953.
In 1954 he met and married JoAnn Heaps the love of his life. They were married on October 28, 1954 in the Logan Utah Temple. They were married for over 60 years and became the parents of five wonderful children.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings. A Sunday School teacher with his wife, High Priest instructor, secretary to a Bishop and on the High Council.
He was employed by Cache Meadow Farms, Thiokol, Trackmaster, and for many years at Gossner Foods from which he retired. After retirement he owned the cafeteria at Moore Business Forms where he fed many of the employees. He also cooked at Schreiber Foods with his daughter.
He showed by example how to serve others and how to work hard , always being willing to help anyone. He was a wonderful example of unconditional love and strength especially for his children and grandchildren. And no child ever left his house without some tootsie rolls.
He is survived by his children Gary (Julie) Perkes, Franklin, Cindy (Hal) Olsen, College Ward, Pam ( Jimmy) Fletcher, Hyde Park, Paulette (Kurt) Fornoff, Hyde Park, and a daughter-in -law Denise Perkes, Providence. He is also survived by 31 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren with 2 more due this fall, a sister Shirley Pearce, Paradise and a brother Sid Perkes, Logan.
He was preceded in death by his son Steven Perkes, a grandson Justin Perkes, a granddaughter Whitney Fletcher, and a great grandson Konner Hugie He is also preceded in death by a sister Blanche, a sister Donna, a brother Weldon and a brother Richard.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 18 at 11:30 a.m. at the Hyde Park Church, 65 East Center, Hyde Park. Friends may call on Tuesday May 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary of North Logan, 420 East 1800 North, North Logan and at the Church from 10 to 11 am on Wednesday prior to the services. Burial will be next to his wife in the Hyde Park cemetery. Condolences may be shared with the family online by visiting www.allenmortuaries.net
