Ralph Lynn Erickson

November 13, 1952 — December 1, 2016

Ralph Lynn Erickson, loved brother, uncle and friend passed away on December 1, 2016 in Logan, Utah. Ralph was the third child of Berenice Seamons and A. Gordon Erickson of Smithfield, Utah. He was born on November 13, 1952.
Ralph will be truly missed. He was a professional genealogy researcher. He worked over 20 years at the LDS Family History Library in Salt Lake City as a researcher in Scandinavian lineage. He was able to fulfill many opportunities to visit, with his mother, the homeland of his ancestors in Sweden and England. He was able to make contacts and friendships with living relatives in these countries. Ralph graduated from Utah State University with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in History. He taught middle school history in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Ralph was a devoted member of his LDS faith. He served a full time mission to the San Paulo Brazil mission. He served faithfully within the church throughout his life as an excellent gospel doctrine and High Priest Quorum instructor.
Although Ralph never married, his many nephews and nieces and their children adored him. He never forgot a birthday or special occasion.
Ralph is preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Ray. He is survived by one sister, Marie (Ken) Adams, Porterville, Utah and two brothers, Bruce (Leslie) Newton, Utah and Ed (Lynette) Centerville, Utah, and thirteen loving nephews and nieces and their children.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 12, 2016 at noon at the Smithfield 19th ward meetinghouse at 180 West 400 North, Smithfield, Utah. A public viewing will be held Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM at Neilson Mortuary, 85 South Main in Smithfield and from 10:30 – 11:30 at the church on Monday. Interment will be in the Smithfield cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
The family would like to thank ward members and friends who gave many acts of service, as well as the employees of Pioneer Valley Lodge and Integrity Home Health for their exceptional care and attention the last while.
