Rhea Hymas Stephens

July 30, 1926 — May 11, 2018

Logan – Rhea Hymas Stephens, 91, passed away May 11th, 2018. Rhea was born July 30, 1926 in Montpelier, Idaho, to Lyman Alma Hymas and Elnora Poulsen Hymas.
Rhea grew up in Liberty, Idaho on a large family farm where she did farm work with her father and had a happy childhood. She graduated from Fielding High in Paris, Idaho where she played the flute and was a good student. She believed in doing her best in everything and working hard. After high school she attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah, where she received a bachelor’s degree in clothing and textiles and a minor in art.
Rhea married E. Sterling Stephens in 1946 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they made a heaven on earth for their children.
Rhea used her many talents and skills to build the kingdom of God on earth. She sees the beauty in everything. She loves color, fabric, flowers and all things of good report or praiseworthy. She was an exquisite seamstress an avid reader and always busy with her hands in doing good. Rhea was one who served the Lord by ministering to others with her food, visits, teaching, kindness and friendship.
She served as Ward Relief Society President three times and President of the Hyrum Stake Relief Society. She loves the sisters of Relief Society and all who know her have received of her selfless kindness and loving spirit.
Rhea served as assistant to her husband on a Church Education System mission to Charlotte North Carolina and an LDS mission for the Church Education System in Ireland. They also served together in the Logan Temple.
Rhea was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sterling and siblings, LaRee Hymas Harrington, Max Hymas, Mirl Hymas, and Gwen Hymas. Rhea is survived by her sons and daughters GeNee (Robert) Mouritsen of Kaysville, Utah, Sherry (Don) Archibald of Rigby, Idaho, Jackie (Kent) Adams of Shelley, Idaho, Monte (Pamela) Stephens of Fruit Heights, Utah, Rick (Lisa) Stephens of Greeley, Colorado, and Jan Stephens of Logan, Utah, 28 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 19th, 2018, in the Foothill 1st Ward building, 1450 E. 1500 N. in Logan. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 pm Friday, May 18th, 2018, at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St in Logan and at the church prior to the services Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment will follow at 3:00 pm in the Montpelier City Cemetery in Montpelier, Idaho. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net .
