Richard Wray Allen

September 10, 1968 — September 20, 2014

Richard Wray Allen, 46, passed away peacefully in his Woods Cross, Utah, home in the early morning of September 20, 2014, as a result of an acute illness.

Richard had a life full of medical challenges, but had been doing well and as a result of feeling better, the last few months were among his happiest.

Richard was born in Logan, Utah, on September, 10, 1968. He was the ninth child of Robert Gaylen Allen, who passed away in 2012, and Norine Butler Allen, of Logan. His siblings are Gae Lyn, Lee Ann, Robert, Janene, June (who died shortly after she was born), Marjorie, Mary Jo, and Teri Sue. Richard loved his four dogs Jenny, Louie, Toby, and Molly.

Richard graduated from Logan High School and Utah State University. Later, he completed his MBA degree from the University of Phoenix. At a young age Richard worked at Sunshine Terrace providing care assistance. He worked as a hair stylist and gave "the best" haircuts, according to family members. Richard worked as a technical writer and in other positions for Levi Strauss, Intel, Intermountain Health Care, Docutex, Xango, and MonaVie, to name a few. Richard also worked on the family farm for many summers, operating tractors, combines, and hauling wheat. He has lived in Utah, Arizona, California, and Florida.

Richard loved to sing and in this he found purpose and meaning. He grew up performing with family groups, and was in Logan High School musicals, New Horizons and USU Chorale, and most recently the renowned Salt Lake Men's Choir.

Richard was known for his ability to find humor in everyday events; he liked to laugh and make others laugh.

Thanks is due to great health care given to him by his many doctors and providers who had plans for him to live many more years. He was very grateful for their attentive care.

Richard helped out with his dad in the last difficult years of his life when he was suffering from Alzheimer's, and has given much service to his mother in her older years.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 26, 2014 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9:30 to
10:30 AM. Burial will be in Hyrum Cemetery.

Friends are also planning a "celebration of life" for Rich Allen on September 26 from 5-6:45 p.m. at the cultural hall at the First Baptist Church, 777 South 1300 East, in Salt Lake City.

Richard, we rejoice that you are now free of pain and illness and reunited with loved ones. Farewell, for a short time.
