LOGAN,UTAH: Russell Glenn Seamons ,64, passed away August 5, 2014 at the Logan Regional Hospital.
He was born February 24, 1950 in Logan, Utah, to Glenn Ellis and Kinnie Knowles Seamons. He married Gail Anderson in the Logan Temple July 10, 1974.
Russell spent his life in service in his work, church, family, and, social life. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand. After graduation from dental school at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, he worked as a dentist on the Mille Lacs Indian reservation in Minnesota for four years before settling in Logan. He practiced dentistry for 30 years in Logan, retired to take care of his mother, and went back to dentistry in Roy, Utah, for the last two years. During that time he served in many callings in the church including Scout Master, Bishop, Counselor to a Stake President, Sunday School teacher, and faithful home teacher. He served a church service mission at the Logan Dry Pack Cannery.
He enjoyed being a temple officiator, singing in the American Festival Chorus, working in his beautiful garden, hiking, and working out at CrossFit Iota. He especially loved being with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Gail; his children, Stephanie (Jerry) Hall, Richmond; Tyler (Chani) Seamons, Smithfield; Chris (Jen) Seamons, Smithfield; Bryce (Monica) Seamons, Hyrum; Shawn (Katie) Seamons, Logan; Scott (Derry) Seamons, West Valley; Darwin Seamons, Richmond; 15 grandchildren; siblings, Sharman (Julie) Seamons, Sherwin (Jane) Seamons, Taci (Ron) Fernuik, Lisa (Vic) Osmond and in-laws.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 pm in the Mt. Logan Stake Center, 565 East 100 South. There will be a viewing Friday evening from 6-8 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center and at the church on Saturday from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm. Interment will follow in the Logan City Cemetery.
