Ruth Ballard Dance

September 25, 1927 — September 23, 2015

Ruth Ballard Dance passed peacefully from this life surrounded by family on September 23, 2015 just two days short of her 88th birthday.
She was born on September 25, 1927 in Logan, Utah to Melvin Joseph and Audria Munk Ballard. She loved growing up on the family farm in Benson, Utah with her siblings and cousins as her best friends.
She attended schools in Cache County, graduated from North Cache High School and attended Utah State University. She also worked at Sears and The Logan Temple.
She loved the Lord and felt it a privilege to serve in the North Western States Mission. When reporting her mission, in the Logan Tabernacle, she caught the eye of her future husband, Harold Wintle Dance, and they were later married in the Logan LDS Temple on March 26, 1953.
Her faith, family and friends were her greatest treasures. As a loving wife and mother, Ruth displayed her talents in many ways. She will be remembered for family dinners and gatherings. She loved to decorate and make every occasion meaningful and special. She supported her children and grandchildren’s activities. She loved family photographs and filled her home with them. She had a way of making each family member feel loved and special and her family adored her. She enjoyed music and was an avid reader. She was a talented writer and speaker and wrote and published family histories.
She was a faithful leader in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many capacities, such as Relief Society President, Stake and Ward Young Women’s President; she loved to teach youth and adults and served as a Lamba Delta Sigma advisor. She was sought after to speak at Youth Conferences, Firesides and Girl’s Camps. She served a second mission with her eternal companion in Nauvoo, Illinois.
The biggest tragedy of her life was losing her son Brad Harold Dance in a car accident in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and their spouses: Donna (Carl) Ham, Nadine (Myron) Richards, Landell (Lois) Ballard and a great granddaughter. She is survived by her loving husband, Harold W. Dance and two daughters: Debra (Robert) Ellis and Dixie (Wayne) Finlayson and daughter in law Tammy Dance (Larry) Radabaugh. She has 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, with two on the way. “We love you and will miss you!”
Thanks to Colette Hatch the aides and staff at Cache Valley Assisted Living, especially Paul, and Dr. Deserae Goble for kind and loving care.
Funeral Services will be held at the Lundstrom Park 3rd Ward, 1260 North 1600 East Logan, on Monday, September 28 at 12:00 p.m.; with a viewing both Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan or Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church.
