Sherwin Owen Kirby

Sherwin Owen Kirby passed peacefully away in his home with his wife by his side on July 9, 2014. He was born Oct. 12, 1935, in Hyde Park, Utah. He was the fourth of eight children born to Owen A. Kirby and Edna Z. Kirby. Sherwin married his loving wife, Connie Downs, in the Logan Temple on Dec. 4, 1957.

They were blessed with three wonderful sons: Rodney Owen Kirby (Gaye), Jeffery Joseph Kirby (Gail), Christopher Downs Kirby (Mary), 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Kathleen (Orval) Sorensen, Elaine (Carl) Anderson, Carol (Don) Johnson, Laura (Wenden) Waite and Brothers Dale (Anne) Kirby, Vance (Samantha) Kirby and Lynn (Margo) Kirby.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many callings. Sherwin truly loved the outdoors and scouting. He was well-known architect who drew and designed thousands of the homes in Cache Valley and elsewhere.

If you were fortunate enough to have been able to meet this wonderful man, you know that the lord broke the mold when he created Sherwin. Sherwin was as quick to laugh as he was to serve his fellow man. We are much richer for his having lived among us. His willingness to serve and his devotion to his wife will never be forgotten. He will be missed by many.

The funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, July 14th at the Hyde Park 4th Ward Chapel, 450 N. 100 West in Hyde Park with a viewing prior from 10:30-11:30 a.m. A viewing will also be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 13th at Allen Mortuary (North Logan), 420 E. 1800 N.
