Velda C Lye

April 11, 1925 — February 15, 2015

CEDAR HILLS – Velda Campbell Lye passed away at her home in Cedar Hills, Utah, on Feb. 15, 2015, at the age of 89.
She was born April 11, 1925, in Ammon, Idaho, to Alfred Easton Campbell and Ada Eveline Owen.
She met William Frank Lye, of Kimberly, British Columbia, when they were serving missions in the Western Canadian Mission. They met again while Bill was attending Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, and married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on Oct. 16, 1953.
They had six children: William Mark Lye, Matthew Campbell Lye, Joseph Joel Lye (deceased), David Arthur Lye, Victoria Moore and Regina Lye.
Velda love art and took classes at Utah State. She also volunteered at the Art Museum for many years.
William and Velda moved many times while he was pursuing his education, and they lived in Idaho, Utah, California, and North Carolina. After Bill was granted a Foreign Area Fellowship from the Ford Foundation, the family went to Africa as he conducted research.
Velda was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a missionary in the Western Canadian Mission; and served in the Primary, Cub Scouts, and with the Beehives. She enjoyed working with Bill while he served as the branch president of the Logan Hospital Branch; bishop of the Adams Park Ward; and on the Logan Central Stake High Council, assigned to the Deaf Branch.
Velda is survived by her children: William Mark Lye (Michelle) of Alpine, Utah; Matthew Campbell Lye, Rock Springs, Wyo.; David Arthur Lye (Gina), American Fork, Utah; Victoria Moore, Shalimar, Fla.; and Regina Lye (Brett), Bella Vista, Ark.
His grandchildren: William Cameron Lye, Alpine, Utah; Collin Shelby Lye (Lani), Orem, Utah; Nicole Marie Lye, Alpine, Utah; Joseph Tyrell Lye (Carissa), Rock Springs, Wyo.; Stephen Daniel Lye (Adrea), Rock Springs, Wyo.; Misty Dawn Lye, Rock Springs, Wyo.; Karl David Lye (Courtney), West Jordan, Utah; Brent Alden Lye (Carmen), American Fork, Utah; Nathan James Lye (Becca), American Fork, Utah; and Natasha Lye, American Fork, Utah; also great-grandchild: Jude and Zephyr Lye, Alpine, Utah; Tayven  Lye, Rock Springs, Wyoming; Owen and Piercen Lye, Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 21, 2015 at 12:00 Noon in the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel, 34 East Center, Logan. Friends and family may call at the mortuary on Saturday morning from 10:30am till 11:30am prior to services. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
