William Wayne Brenchley Bankhead

August 15, 1928 — October 2, 2017

William Wayne Brenchley Bankhead, 89, of Wellsville, Utah, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Oct. 2, 2017.
Dad was born Aug. 15, 1928, to Evan Haslam Bankhead and Sarah Pearl Murray Brenchley in Wellsville, Utah. He spent his early years in Wellsville learning how to farm with his father and acquired a love of farming. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the army during the end of World War II.
Upon his return from the service, he served a mission for the LDS church to the Eastern States mission. Prior to leaving on his mission he met, and later married, LaFaye Hancey on March 21, 1952 in the Logan Temple.
Dad knew the importance of education and attended Utah State University graduating with a BS Degree in Animal Husbandry. He worked for Farmer's Home Administration in Blackfoot, Idaho for five years before transferring to the Logan office where worked for 30 years and became acquainted with many of the local farmers throughout Cache Valley and Box Elder County.
Throughout his life he served faithfully in many positions of responsibility in the LDS church. In his later life he and his sweetheart served an LDS mission to the Philippines and also the Family History Center in Salt Lake. He served 22 years in the Logan temple while simultaneously serving 12 years as a host at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Salt Lake.
Dad is survived by his wife of 65 years, LaFaye, and his children: Pat Ashcroft (Frank), Hyde Park, UT; LaDawn Wyatt (David), Las Vegas, NV; Nancy Hanks (Curt), North Logan, UT; Philip Bankhead (Robyn) and Evan Bankhead (Penny), Wellsville, UT. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren; a sister, Marla Bankhead and a sister-in-law, Betty Bankhead. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jay and Gerald (Janet) Bankhead. The family would like to express a special thanks to Encompass Home Health and Hospice for their tender care of Dad.
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center, Logan, Utah. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7 in the Wellsville 3rd Ward Chapel, 45 West 200 South in Wellsville, with a viewing prior from 9:00 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be held at the Wellsville City Cemetery following the funeral services. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net .
