Maxine Curtis Mcmurdie

December 7, 1925 — March 12, 2016

Maxine Curtis McMurdie died of natural causes March 12, 2016 at the Cache Valley Assisted Living Center , 233 North Main Street , Providence , Utah .  She was born December 7, 1925 in Payson , Utah , the second daughter of Heber Allison Curtis and Mary Anna McWilliams.
Maxine's earliest memories include the first radio her family had, playing the French horn as a teenager, and concerts on Sunday afternoons in the park.  On her sixteenth birthday, Sunday morning, December 7, 1941 , she remembers coming home from church to the breaking news of the attack on Pearl Harbor .  After high school, considering that Brigham Young University was too close to home, Maxine followed her older sister Barbara, to Logan to attend Utah State University .  Maxine met her husband William Evan McMurdie, Jr., Bill, when he came with his sister, Renee, to the USU dairy where Maxine worked.  Bill, on leave from the Navy, was in uniform, and Maxine later said, "He looked like a million bucks."  Bill surely admired her flaming red hair.  They were married in the Salt Lake Temple September 2, 1947 and have five children:  Rachel Lawyer (Brent), Marilyn McMurdie, Douglas McMurdie (Candis), Neil McMurdie (Tamara), and Randy McMurdie (Leisa).  They have seventeen grandchildren and thirty-three great grandchildren.
Maxine taught school in the Cache County School District for many years, particularly kindergarten at Wellsville Elementary.  She was a great cook, and she made wonderful peanut brittle.  She was a wonderful mother and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 19, 2016 at 12:00 Noon in the Logan 5th-18th Ward Chapel, 502 East 300 North Blvd, Logan.
