Armin Milton Grossl

January 22, 1929 — August 22, 2017

Dr. Armin Milton Grossl, Providence Utah passed away peacefully on August 22nd, 2017 at Logan Regional Hospital at the age of 88.
He was born on January 22, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Othmar and Hermine (Hora) Grossl both from the province of Carinthia in Austria. When Armin was ten, the family returned to Klagenfurt, Austria. Armin earned his Doctor of Medicine degree summa cum laude from the University of Innsbruck in 1955. In 1956 he married Berta (Schottak) from Klagenfurt and in the same year they moved to Cook County, Illinois where Armin completed an internship in General Medicine. In 1964, Armin completed his specialty residency in Radiology at the Hines Veteran Administration Hospital in Hines, Illinois. His career as a Radiologist spanned more than thirty years. For the first twenty years, he was the Radiologist for several rural hospitals in West Central Illinois and for the last ten years of his career he was Chief-of-Staff of the Radiology department at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Iron Mountain, Michigan. He was known for his competency and dedication to his patients and staff. He was a beloved mentor to the people who worked with him. Armin retired in 1996. He and Berta then moved to Providence where they could be closer to family and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
Armin had a brilliant mind and a thirst for learning. He was an avid reader, mostly of nonfiction. He was a renaissance man with multiple interests and an in-depth understanding in the areas of science, medicine, history, geopolitics, art, finance and economics, horticulture, sailing, and traveling, to name a few. Yet, Armin was not one to flaunt his talents. He was humble, gracious and caring. The greatest joy in his life was his family and friends and relishing their successes and wellbeing. The devotion Armin and Berta had for one another during their sixty-one year marriage was truly exemplary. We were extremely blessed to have Armin in our lives and miss him greatly.
Armin is survived by his wife Berta and his children Yvonne (Jean-Luc Ayne), Laverune, France; Paul (Cathy) Logan, and Norman (Andrea) St. Louis, MO; his sister Othild (Kordesch), Klagenfurt, Austria, and six grandchildren Brock, Marie, Holton, Lauren, Jonathon, and Karina. He is preceded in death by his parents Othmar and Hermine Grossl, Klagenfurt, Austria.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday September 15 at noon at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 725 S 250 E, Hyde Park, UT followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Armin may be made to the Sunshine Terrace Foundation, 248 W 300 N, Logan UT 84321.
