Betty Jean Selley Anderson

October 18, 1925 — May 30, 2018

Betty S. Anderson, age 92, of Logan passed away peacefully at Terrace Grove on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.
Mother was born October 18, 1925 to William (Bill) John and Elsie Ethel Cooper Leishman Selley in Wellsville, Utah. Mother grew up with loving parents, five brothers, and two sisters. All of whom were great examples and wonderfully supportive to her in her life.
As a child, Mother worked hard hoeing and topping beets and hauling hay. She loved playing hopscotch, jacks, and many other games. She attended schools in Cache County and graduated from South Cache High School; Mom would catch the train in Wellsville to get to school each day.
After graduation, Mother married Darrell W. Anderson on July 9, 1943 in Nibley, Utah. They started their life together during World War II, and Dad was drafted in the United States Coast Guard. After the birth of their first of three sons, Mother was able to join Dad in Alameda, California where she was a rental manager of a large home that they shared with five other couples during the war. When the war ended, Dad was honorably discharged in 1946, they returned to Nibley, Utah making their home, raising their sons, and working on the family farm together.
Mother enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting, playing golf, and playing bridge. She loved traveling and has been many places all around the world. Mother was a store manager for Gold Strike in Logan until it closed. She supported her husband in his endeavors to create a family construction company in 1964, and helped in any way she could working alongside Dad as she did on the farm.
Mother was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the primary, the young women, on the old folk’s committee and as a Chairperson and was a dance director with Dad. She loved dancing and teaching the young adults how to dance for the Gold and Green Ball.
Mother and Dad wintered for over 30 years in St. George, Utah meeting many wonderful people. Mother was a member of the Logan Golf and Country Club Women’s Association, the Bloomington Golf and Country Club Women’s Association, and the Elks Lodge. She enjoyed the people in each of the organizations and places she lived and created many lifelong, dear friends.
She is a friend to all and a great example of perseverance, hard work, dignity, and love. Family was always important to her, and she thrived in spending time with each family member.
She is survived by her children, James B. Anderson (Linda J.) and Douglas B. Anderson (Linda O.), daughter-in-law, Cozette P. Anderson, 12 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 6 step-great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and a sister, ArLee Tegan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell, son, D. Larry Anderson, parents, William and Ethel Selley, her brothers: Woodrow, Leland, Paul, Calvin and Junior Selley and her sister, Vivian Bailey.
A special thanks to Stephanie and Nancy, Terrace Grove, and Hospice for your loving kindness and consideration given to Mother.
