Carl Arnell Anderson

August 24, 1925 — January 30, 2020

Carl Arnell Anderson, 94, passed away on Jan 30, 2020. He was born on August 24, 1925 in St. Charles, Idaho to Kurt Ragnar and Delpha Arnell Anderson. He graduated from Fielding High School in Paris, Idaho. While in high school he joined the US Navy during World War II and two days after graduation was called to duty. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He also served an LDS mission to Finland. He married Dorothy Lemon on May 20, 1953 in the Logan Temple.
Carl was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully in many ward and stake positions including Bishop of the Hyrum First Ward. He also served in the Logan Temple for 12 years.
Carl offered service to his community as a member of the American Legion. He worked for E.A. Miller and later as a custodian for the LDS Church. He also loved singing in the Imperial Glee Club.
After Dorothy’s passing he married Elaine McMurdie on May 1, 1999.
He is survived by his wife Elaine, daughter Linda (Curt) Sparrow, daughters-in-law Judy (Lee) Hendrickson, Stephanie (Dan) Miller, 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Ila Anderson. When he married Elaine he also gained her family of 6 children, 27 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, sons Craig and Calvin and great-granddaughter Ayva Sparrow. Also preceding him in death were his parents, brother Orval and his sisters Mildred Arnell and Elizabeth Passey.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 8 at noon at the Hyrum First Ward church, 125 North 400 West, Hyrum. Friends and family may call from 10:00 to 11:30 am Saturday prior to the service. Interment will be at the Hyrum City Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers make donations to the LDS Humanitarian fund.
