Chris L. Mitton

Chris L. Mitton 54, passed away surrounded by his family on May 20, 2017, due to injuries he sustained from an accident during his annual “Out West” trip. Chris was born on March 28, 1963, in Bingham City, Utah, to William Kay and Renea Lindley Mitton. He was the youngest of 5 children. He was raised in Wellsville, Utah, where he enjoyed hunting, riding his dirt bike, and spending time with his family and friends.
During his high school years, he met his best friend and sweet heart, Marina. After graduating high school, he served an LDS mission in Milwaukie, Wisconsin. Upon returning home, he married Marina Toombs on February 24, 1984, in the Logan Temple. They then made their home in Mt. Sterling, where they raised 4 beautiful daughters.
Chris loved his wife, his girls, and he loved spending time with his dad. Family always came first for Chris. Night or day, near or far, if his wife or girls needed him, Chris would be there to save the day. He watched after his girls and made sure that they were always safe and taken care of. Even now, Chris's mission was not complete until he could find a strong upstanding man for each of his daughters to lean on. The passing of Chris came only days after he was able to hand off his final daughter to her loving companion and be with his entire family in the temple. This tender mercy will forever be a special time for his wife, his daughters and their husbands. He is proud of each of his "sons" and knows that his girls are in good hands.
Anyone that knew Chris, also knew Marina. The closeness and love found in their marriage was one only found in fairy tales. Chris loved his wife and always treated her like his princess. They worked together, played together and fit a lifetime of love and memories into the short 36 years they were together. We don't know what the secret recipe is to a perfect marriage, but Chris and Marina figured it out. Their love is a beacon to show us how to live and become one with your eternal companion. Chris's example will forever be a guide to his "sons" in becoming the perfect husband.
Chris lived life to the fullest in all he did, serving, loving, working, and playing. Chris could fix anything from cars and houses to a worried mind and a broken heart. Everything he touched became better, and every person he met felt his genuine love. Whether you knew Chris from one conversation, or you were lucky enough to call him a friend for years, every interaction with him left you knowing that he was one of the best men that walked this earth. Chris had a way in making you want to be a better person, and he impacted so many for good. He loved serving in the church in every calling he ever received, but his favorites were working with the youth and being a ward mission leader. His calm spirit and loving heart shown so brightly that it attracted countless friends and loved ones. We will all have a void in our hearts where Chris was held, and cannot wait to be together again.
He was a loving father and is survived by his wife Marina Mitton, and their four daughters; Mindi (Nick) Eliason, Krista (Clayton) White, Makell (Koltin) Darley, and Samantha (Baker) Ward. He was a devoted grandfather and lived to see 4 of his grandchildren. He was a caring brother and son and is also survived by his father William Kay and mother Renea Mitton, and his brother and sisters; KaeLene (Tom) Morgan, Racinda Mitton, Peggy (Doug) Hyer, and Kurt (Sue) Mitton. A viewing service will be held Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the Wellsville Stake Center. A viewing will also be held Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Wellsville Stake Center, followed by funeral services beginning at 11:00AM.
