Clara Larsen Maughan (92) passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Rocky Mountain Nursing Home. She was born September 22, 1924 in Mendon Utah.

Clara was the daughter of Theo and Opal Larsen. She was the oldest of three children. She attended Mendon Elementary School and South Cache High School graduating in 1942. Clara had special memories of growing up in Mendon. She spent many hours with her Grandmother Copen, who had a great influence on her life. Another highlight of her childhood was being crowned May Queen in 1938. She attended nursing training at Denver General Hospital and Budge Memorial Nursing School, graduating in 1945 as a registered Nurse. She went on to work at Budge Memorial Hospital and Logan LDS Hospital, where she worked as a registered nurse going on to obtain her Respiratory Therapist Certificate and worked as the first Respiratory Therapist at Logan LDS Hospital. She finished her career as the department head of the recovery room at Logan Regional Hospital. She made many lifelong friends and left countless lasting memories during her career. Clara shared her skills by performing acts of service among many friends, neighbors and family.

Clara married her sweetheart, Lee Cooper Maughan on June 1, 1949 in the Logan Temple. They were blessed with five children: Pam, Donald, Janice, Sheryl, and Linda. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Clara held various positions in the primary, young women’s, Stake Relief Society Board, taught Red Cross classes, and was a visiting teacher for 50 years. She was a member of the Peter Maughan camp of the DUP serving in various leadership positions. She was also a member of the Sevilla Club and Wellsville Literary Club. Clara enjoyed collecting dolls, creating plastic canvas, and making crochet hats for family and the humanitarian program. After Lee passed, she enjoyed a brief marriage to Clarke P Maughan. who proceeded her in death.

Clara is proceeded in death by her parents, her sister/best friend Donna Buist, and her eternal companion, Lee. She is survived by brother Dean (DeAnn), Clinton, her children Pamela (Alma) Leonhardt, Providence, Don (Diana), North Logan, Janice (Jim) Zollinger, College Ward, Sheryl (Quinn) Murray, Wellsville, Linda (David) St John, West Point, and 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

There will be a viewing held in her honor at Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan, Utah, on Wednesday, August 16 from 7:00-8:00 pm and Thursday morning 10:30 am-11:30 am at the Wellsville Stake Center, 30 South Center Wellsville, with the funeral to follow at 12:00 noon.
