Claudia Lewis Wigington

April 18, 1937 — February 21, 2017

PROVIDENCE - Claudia Lewis Wigington, (79) of Montpelier, Idaho passed away on Monday, February 21, 2017 at the home of Kelly and Jan Wigington, her devoted caregivers. Although struggling with arthritis and other age-related health issues, cancer proved to be her final battle in mortality. Claudia was born April 18, 1937 in Lanark, Idaho to Calvert Lewis and Agnes (King). Claudia was the oldest of 6 children.
Claudia grew up on a farm in Dingle, Idaho where she loved visiting family and being in the outdoors. She attended Montpelier High School where she met her future husband Dean Wigington. They were married in June 1956. They lived most of their lives in Montpelier where they raised their family of four children: Michael (Sheryl) of Milwaukee, WI; Kelly (Jan) of Providence; UT, Leslie Blauer (Mike) of Declo, ID; and Brent (Laura) of American Fork, UT.
Claudia was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ; she believed in the teachings of His gospel and practiced those principles in her life, especially loving and serving her neighbors. She faithfully served in her church callings which included service at the LDS Family History library, giving tours at the Paris Tabernacle, and a mission with Dean running the local Bishop’s Storehouse. She loved to visit with people as she traveled with Dean in his various church callings. Claudia also participated in community affairs by serving on the Bear Lake County Fair Committee and the Idaho Republican Party.
Claudia is survived by siblings, Max Lewis, Carolyn (Lewis) Larsen, Lynn Lewis; three children, Michael, Kelly, and Brent; 21 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. Every grandchild loved visiting her to hear family stories and play with her collection of Star Wars toys. She loved the Star Wars movies and the principle-centered lessons that they taught.
Claudia was preceded in death by her daughter, Leslie; husband, Dean; sister, Cathy; and other members of her family whom she anxiously looked forward to being reunited with. Claudia will be remembered for her thoughtfulness and eagerness to visit with anyone at any time. She loved doing work for all of her ancestors, both with family history and temple work.
