Clyde loved racing the family thoroughbred who always won. He participated in the Pony Express Reenactment, 4H and band where he played the coronet. As professor at the Univ. of Delaware he did research for the USDA and was invited to work in Washington, D.C., in Cooperative State Research Service (CSRS) from 1961 to 1983. He then became director of the International Institute of Feedstuffs where he traveled internationally, retiring in 1986 to take care of his son Russell in his last months.

Service was important. He served in the PTA, as Young Men's President, High Councilor, Ward Clerk and Branch President. He was the Shift Coordinator in the Washington DC temple on Fridays and Saturdays and served as Sealer in the Logan temple for 20 years.
