He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service as 1st Sergeant in that company.

His love for his wife and family was equaled only by his love for and devotion to his God and his fellow man. He was a dedicated husband and honored father, He served in Young Men’s organizations, bishoprics, High Councils, stake presidencies, and as faithful home teacher. In his later years, he delighted in serving in the Logan Temple.
He worked with his father for Utah Oil (later American Oil), for Clover Club Foods until he retired in 1986, and was acknowledged and appreciated for his work ethic and constant cheerful service.
Hunting and fishing were his life-long passions. He was an avid reader. Darell loved a good joke. He made friends easily and kept them over decades.
His smile will be missed. His testimony and example will be his family’s standard to live by.
