Deann Orison Williams

March 8, 1944 — February 8, 2017

Our sweet Mother and Grandma, DeAnn Orison Williams, was called home on February 8, 2017.
DeAnn was born on March 8, 1944 in Logan, Utah to Charles and Mae Orison. DeAnn loved to sing, and in her youth was a member of the Chanticleers vocal group in school. She enjoyed swimming and public speaking. As a teenager, DeAnn developed a love for family history as she worked on her genealogy with her young women’s group.
After graduating from Logan High, DeAnn attended school at Utah State University, where she studied childhood education. She loved teaching and in later years was a tutor. She was married to Dennis Williams in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 28, 1965 (later divorced). DeAnn had three things she was passionate about, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, her family, and her country. She loved going to the temple. She was an active member of the Republican party and often contributed to the campaigns of the candidates she supported. She displayed signed pictures she had received of President George W. Bush with pride.
She loved to have her children and grandchildren visit and took great satisfaction in cooking holiday meals and desserts. DeAnn struggled most of her adult life with schizophrenia, a mental illness that made it difficult for her to function. Despite this trial, she never lost her faith in God, nor her optimistic and cheerful attitude about everything. At one time, DeAnn was employed to provide care for several aging adults and had fond memories of serving them. She lived with, and took care of her own mother for almost twenty years.
She leaves behind her sons, Dana (Jennifer) and David (Connie); and eight grandchildren, Sierra, Alden, Emma, Caleb, Christian, Sydney, Evan and Benjamin. She is also survived by her siblings, William (Gloria ) Orison, and Sharon (DeMoyn) Webb.
The family wishes to express gratitude for the case workers, doctors, and other professionals at Bear River Mental Health who took interest in her well-being for so many years. The family also wishes to thank health care professionals at Orem Rehab who took care of her in her last months.
Finally, thanks to the many people in her life who displayed kindness and Christ-like compassion to her. Most of all, we express gratitude to the Savior Jesus Christ, whose atonement and resurrection mean that Mom no longer suffers with mental and physical limitations, and that she will come forth in the resurrection with both her body and mind restored to their perfect frame.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel, 34 East Center Street in Logan. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be in the Richmond City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
