Deanna Hall Morse

April 30, 1939 — July 6, 2022

Our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend left her earthly body on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the age of 83, while living at Autumn Care Assisted Living in Hyde Park, UT. Her 2 daughters and a granddaughter were by her side as she was freed from the shackles that Alzheimer’s had on her for many years.
Deanna was born on April 30, 1939 in Portage, UT to Leona Grace Nish and Otto Eugene Hall. In 1942 the family moved to the southwest end of Logan, UT, where she lived throughout her school years.
She contracted nearly every childhood disease there was, and also recovered from many accidents that happened on the family farm. These cumulative events made her a pretty tough cookie, and that strength to fight served her well throughout her life; and to the very end.
During her teenage years at Logan High School, Deanna was active in choir and performed in school musicals. She also attended Junior Red Cross Camp in 1956 during her junior year.
She met Gary Morse, from Hyde Park, UT, at a dance in 1956. They were wed on June 6, 1957 in Hyde Park, and honeymooned in Montana. They were sealed in the Logan Temple on June 9th, 1965. Gary and Deanna were blessed with 3 children; Linda, Steven and Susan Morse, and they made their home in Hyde Park.
In the late 60’s Deanna served as Chorister for her LDS ward. She had a beautiful voice and performed in many ward holiday services. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother and taught equestrian classes for 4-H. In 1971 Deanna received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Utah State University in Elementary Education. She taught grade school at both Lewiston Elementary in Lewiston, UT and Summit Elementary in Smithfield, UT. Boy how she loved being a teacher!! She spent countless hours creating amazing classroom environments for them to learn in.
After she and Gary retired, they purchased a 2nd home in the Canyon Cove community in St. George, UT to spend the winter months, and to get to spend time with their eldest daughter’s family. They stayed in the family home in Hyde Park until 2003 and then built a new home in Smithfield where they lived until 2018 when Gary passed away and Deanna moved to Autumn Care Assisted Living. They enjoyed dancing, traveling, cruising, exploring National Parks and spending time with family and friends, and were very much in love to the end.
Deanna had a heart of gold and took every opportunity to show family and friends how much she cared about them. She spent a lot of time researching ancestors, but even more time creating memory books for every family member. Her family, especially her 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, were her greatest joy in life. She loved spending time with them and many a sugar cookie or puffed rice ball were made when they were together. There was no such thing as too many hugs or too many photos of any family gathering or vacation, and every holiday card or birthday cardo or trinket from a student was a precious gift and something that was to never be thrown away.
Deanna is survived by her 2 daughters, Linda (Keith) Johnson and Susan Priestley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Morse, her son, Steve Morse, her parents, her 3 sisters and a granddaughter.
A viewing will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary at 420 E. 1800 N., North Logan, UT on Saturday, July 16th, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, followed by the funeral service. Interment will be in the Hyde Park Cemetery.
We would like to thank the staff at Autumn Care Assisted Living for the loving and compassionate care that they have given to our mother over the past 3 ½ years. We are forever grateful. www.allenmortuaries.com
