Douglas Blaine Hart

Douglas Blaine Hart passed away February 27, 2018 after a brief, severe respiratory illness. “A real nice, quiet, modest guy from Bloomington, Idaho.” He was born on October 7, 1930 in Bloomington, the youngest of 11 children of Alfred A. and Sarah Patterson Hart. Douglas completed elementary schooling in Bloomington and graduated from Fielding High School in Paris, Idaho, where he participated in band, chorus, and track. He attended the University of Utah on a track scholarship. He graduated from the University of Utah Medical School in 1956 and completed a rotating internship at the Thomas Dee Memorial Hospital in Ogden. After serving as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force for 2 years 9 months, he completed a 4 year residency in otolaryngology (ENT) at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He entered private practice in Logan, Utah in July, 1964 and practiced medicine there for 30 years. He was active in a variety of community positions, including president of the Logan Kiwanis Club, Sons of the Utah Pioneers, state ENT society and Cache Valley Medical Society, served as a Cache County trustee for the Utah State Medical Society, and was active in the LDS Church. He served in various church positions, including service in the Logan and London Temples. He and his wife also served a mission in Guyana. He married Bonnie Gold on March 17, 1952. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; sister Norma Anderson; children Blaine L. (Nancy), Marjorie (Bruce Allred), Michael G. (Debbi), Roger C. (Kathryn), and Jill (Jed Barton); and by 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Ruth Lundell, Flora Woolston, Alfred B. Hart, Philip Hart, Eugene Hart, Edward Hart, Heber Hart, Lillian Carr, Lawrence Hart; infant son David Lynn; and infant granddaughter Olivia Barton.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 3 at 12 noon at the Lundstrom Park 3rd Ward, 1260 North 1600 East, Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at the Logan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to LDS Humanitarian Services or Utah State University Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education Department.
