Edesa Zaugg Anderson

Edesa Zaugg Anderson, 91 returned to her heavenly home on Monday, May 30, 2022 at her residence in Logan, Utah.
Edesa was born in La Grande, Oregon on May 13, 1931. She was the daughter of Ernest Frederick Zaugg and Ethal Wanda Mathews Zaugg, and the second of eight children.
During the great depression the family moved from Oregon to Syracuse, UT. As a child Desa would design clothes for her paper dolls and paint them with watercolors. In her youth she was busy helping with household chores and working in the fields with the rest of the family. At recess, while attending Syracuse Elementary School you would have found Desa playing on the monkey bars and chasing boys. While attending North Davis Jr. High, she became very fashion conscious and began designing and making her own clothing. Later at Davis High School, Edesa participated in the pep-club. Her favorite subject was art, in which she won several awards and received an art scholarship to Weber State College.
Edesa worked a seasonal job at the local factory canning tomatoes. She got her first real job at Twentieth Century Tailoring Mills in Ogden, where she learned the skill of designing and tailoring. Her favorite part of work was drawing sketches for the new line of clothing to be put into the yearly sales catalog. Over time she discovered she was blessed with the talent to create beautiful things. Edesa bought her own sewing machine and spent a lot of time in her room sewing clothes for herself and her family. She taught sewing to 4-H groups and later became a professional seamstress.
Edesa married Joseph Dean Anderson on July 29, 1954 in the Logan Temple. Desa was a homemaker and did custom sewing in the home while raising their family. After their children left home Desa and Joe were able to serve three LDS missions together as well as officiate in the Logan Temple for several years. With age, macular degeneration and mental decline prevented her from serving others.
Most days you would have found Desa designing and creating things for her home and yard. She enjoyed sewing, music, art, shopping, talking and had a fun sense of humor. Edesa said; “My life has been successful. I’ve had a lot of dreams and every one has come true.”
Edesa is survived by her children Joquetta Taylor (Kevin) Logan, UT. Gail Baggs (Darran) No. Salt Lake, UT. J Anderson (Jennette) Rapid City, SD. Owen Anderson (Diana) Gilbert, AZ. Desann Griffiths (Brent) Garland, UT. Teresa Roberts (Scott) New Prague, MN. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings and their spouses Ethal Inkley, Emily Zaugg, Charles Zaugg (Kris), Elisa Swain (Larry), Evone Gracey, Randell Zaugg, (Becky) and many loving nieces and nephews.
Edesa was preceded in death by her older brother Mathews Zaugg. Her parents Ernest and Wanda Zaugg and brother-in-law’s Ron Inkley and Richard Gracey. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Joseph Anderson.
The family would like to express thanks to everyone who helped Desa during these last few years, especially her son Owen Anderson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 10:30 AM at the LDS Church on 940 Three Pointe Ave, Logan, UT. Prior to the service, the viewing will be held from 9:00-10:00 AM. Interment will take place at the Syracuse, UT Cemetery. Funeral directors are Allen-Hall Mortuary. www.allenmortuaries.com
