Enrique Reyes

On Wednesday November 7, 2018, Enrique Reyes, son, brother, cousin, husband, father, uncle, brother-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 76. Enrique was born September 24, 1942 in Brownsville, TX to Manuel and Rosa (Nunez) Reyes. He spent his formative years in Lake Mills and Madison WI, joining the Marine Corp in 1959. He married Guadalupe Chavez and raised two daughters, Ruby Ann (Hathaway) and Yolanda Catarina. Retiring from his employment in Lake Mills, he entered his retirement years in Lewiston, UT in 2001 He fell in love with the people, community and his neighbors. He was a talented painter specializing in Latino folkart. He was a gifted gardener and took great pride in beautifying his property. He adored animals and “adopted” many of the feral cats of Lewiston, feeding, building kitty condos for their shelter on his property, and paying and transporting to medical care when needed. He knew all the dogs in the neighborhood by name and fed the birds in every season. He had a special love for children and donated to St Jude's yearly Enrique loved and is loved by his family and was known for his humor, “zingers”, passion and creativity. Enrique was known affectionately as Black Grandpa by his grandchildren due to his full head of black hair. Enrique is preceded in death by his his wife Guadalupe Chavez-Valencia, father Manuel, mother Rosa, sister Grace (McCormick), nephew M. Blair, niece Nancy Kathleen, in-laws Chema and Maria Luisa Chavez, grandparents, aunts, uncles and many others who were waiting with open arms and smiles. He is survived by his daughters, son in law (Shawn), grandchildren (Rhett, Cazador (Brooke), Aurora (Nate), Talon, Esperanza, Devan), great grandsons (Koden, Milo & Monson), brothers Jorge (DeVere) and Manuel (Nora), sisters Molly (Tom), Ruth (Carl), Lucy (Jay), numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces. His list of loved ones would be incomplete without his dogs Nebo (deceased) and Kique, and grand dogs LaLa, Chino (deceased) and China and cats Pepe, Bubbles, Mr. Fluffy and Goldy. He was a man who believed in family, hard work, living within one’s means, and the simple joys of this life. He is missed and remembered. Special thanks to the Lewiston Community, Hospice and VA services. Services to be held November 17 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Lewiston Chapel; viewing from 1030 to noon, followed by services in the Relief Society room, and interment at the Lewiston City Cemetery.
