Ivalou Jenson Ropelato

June 22, 1934 — April 27, 2017

On April 27, 2017, a loving wife, mother, grandma, great grandma and friend passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Iva Lou Jenson Ropelato was born on June 22, 1934 to George Morgan and Phyllis Jessop Jenson. Iva Lou was the 3rd of 5 children, growing up in Millville. She learned the value of hard work helping on the family farm.

On May 7, 1952, Iva Lou married the love of her life Roy John Ropelato in Millville at her parents’ home after only a short 2 month courtship. Together they raised 3 children.

In August 1958 they bought their home and 5 acres in Millville. They worked and saved enough money to purchase their first 3 cows in the early 1960’s. Ivy stayed home and milked the cows by hand, morning and night while taking care of their children.
Day in and day out Grandma worked on the farm from sun up to sun down, showing us kids and her grandkids what it means to work hard and all that can come from doing so. Not only did Grandma set a great example for her family she also set a great example for all of those who worked for her throughout the years.

Grandma was passionate about not only her family and the farm but also took great pride in her homemade candy. She handmade and dipped many types of chocolates every year at Christmas time. Grandma also took great pride in her Christmas lights. She would begin decorating right after Halloween to have every THING covered with lights for the Grand Lighting the night after Thanksgiving. Many words come to mind when describing Grandma, hardworking, generous, loving and a great sense of humor. But to anyone who knew her it was obvious that her love for her family was above all the rest. Grandma, you are in everything we do. We love you and will miss you dearly!

Iva Lou is survived by her children; Lane (Debbie) of Nibley, Kim (Sharon) of Millville, and Susan Larsen of Millville, eight grandchildren; Tyler (Leslie), Brandon (Nick), Trevor (Nikeeta) Larsen, Rachel (Bryan) Galloway, Nicholas, Tara (Flip) Kleffner, Bryant (Hailey), Kimberlee and Jase Jones, and 9 great grandchildren, her brother, Gary Jenson (Lawana), Millville. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy, her parents, and her siblings; Lamar (Bud) Jenson, Jacquelyn (Jacky) Hancey, and Kitty Jenson.

First and foremost we would like to express our sincere appreciation to our sister Susan for her selfless care and dedication in caring for Mom the past 4 years. We would also like to express our appreciation to all the many friends and family for all of their concern and thoughtfulness during this time. Funeral services will be held at the Millville 3rd Ward chapel at 110 South Main in Millville, on Monday, May 8th at 11:30 am. A viewing will be held from 6-8pm on Sunday, May 7th at the Allen-Hall Mortuary and 10:00 to 11:00 on Monday at the chapel before funeral services. Interment will be in the Millville City Cemetery.
