May 12, 1992 — November 18, 2016

Jake Shepherd- son, husband, father, brother, grandson, and friend was released from
his physical body and returned to his loving Heavenly Father following a fatal aviation incident.
He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart Sadie Brook Shepherd; four-year-old son
Jack Jay; two-year-old daughter Ruby Mae; and one-year-old son Dean Calvin. He is further
survived by his mother Linda Shepherd, father Dennis Shepherd, step-mother Natalie
Shepherd, sisters: Lisa Bianco, Sabrina Olsen (Joshua), Lindsee Hancey (Robert), Maryn
Lindley (Rayden), brothers: Chase Wood (Marci), Benton Wood, grandfathers Calvin Jay
Shepherd, James Dotson, grandmother Zada Dotson, father-in-law Todd Slade, mother-in-law
Laura Slade, brother-in-law Bric Slade (Emily), sister-in-law Abby Slade, and numerous aunts,
uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jake is preceded in death by his grandmothers Ella Mae
Shepherd and Mildred Middleton, and grandfather Oliver Middleton.
Jake met his high school sweetheart, Sadie, when he was just 15 years old. She
immediately became the love of his life. On August 12, 2011, the two were sealed together for
time and all eternity in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. It wasn’t long after being sealed that Jake,
who could squeeze as much out of life as possible, applied this concept to having children. He
and Sadie had three children in three years.
Jake, although only in his early 20’s, had the work ethic of generations past. He worked
long and hard, never complaining, all in an effort to make sure his wife and children had
everything they needed. He began his career path in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
field where he was an EMT for Icon and a volunteer Firefighter for multiple agencies throughout
Cache Valley. He always wanted to work in the field of public service. Jake excelled in the
Paramedic field where he eventually became a Critical Care Paramedic and eventually a Flight
Paramedic.
Jake’s life was based on serving others, it was not merely something he did but it was
who he was. His love of serving others is what drove him. He loved all people as was
demonstrated through his daily acts of service and generosity. All those that met him felt they
were better for having known him. His contagious laugh, quick wit, and off the wall sense of
humor positively affected everyone who was lucky enough to experience it. Around the stations
he was known for his practical jokes; one time he hid under a desk for over an hour just to get a
scream, anything for a laugh! He loved Halloween and being able to dress up in the craziest
costumes and he loved family get-togethers. It wasn’t until Jake arrived that the party started.
Jake will forever be remembered for his unyielding kindness, tenderness, unconditional
love, devotion, boundless energy, enjoyment of life, and continuous service. Jake may be gone
from this earth but he has left a lasting legacy in Jack (his mini me genius), Ruby (his little
princess), and Dean (his little giant). Fly High!!!
Funeral services will be held on Monday November 28th at 10 am at the LDS Stake Center
located at 3701 S 450 W Nibley, UT. Graveside services will be held immediately following at
the Mendon cemetery.
