James Michaelson Williamson

James M. Williamson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday morning, December 18,, 2017.
Jim was born in Wellsville, Utah on May 10, 1935 to Max and Louise Williamson. He spent most of his early life growing up in Logan, Utah until the mid-1950’s where he proudly served his country during the Korean War through the Nike Missile Installations at Camp Hanford in Washington State. Following this service, Jim joined the army in 1956 which took him to Umatilla, Oregon where he met his sweetheart of the rodeo and eternal companion, Amelia Barbouletos. They were married in 1957 and began their wonderful life of 60 years together raising kids and crops in Providence, Utah. They put their heart and soul into their incredible garden and beautiful yard surrounded by flowers and trees and those red & white wagon wheels!
Jim graduated from Utah State University with a B.S. in Police Science and made his career as a distinguished officer and detective with the Logan City Police Department for 35 years. He was passionate about the law and gave generously of his time and talents to chasing down the bad guys, but more importantly, recognizing those individuals who needed his guidance and direction. He had a special way of influencing and redirecting those who he came in contact with and their lives and futures were always better for having known and worked with him. He was a true gentleman.
Jim was a highly regarded and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving faithfully in many capacities throughout his lifetime. He had a deep love and respect for his Savior Jesus Christ. His greatest work was that of his family and he was a true and honorable patriarch of his immediate and extended family members. He is survived by his wife, Amelia, sons Max (Susette) Williamson, Travis (Anita) Williamson, daughters Stephanie Bracken, Julie (Greg) Paine, Amy (Matt) Snyder, Jamie (John) Resch, 21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, brother Monte (Marilyn) Williamson, sisters Lolah Mitton and Donna Spillett, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter Wanda Marie Allred, sons-in-law Tom Bracken and Tim Paine, sisters Dixie Curtis and Nedra Watkins, and his parents Max and Louise Williamson.
Funeral services are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary and will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 23rd at the Fruitland Acres Ward, 464 North 300 East in Providence. A Visitation will be held prior from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm. Interment will be at the Wellsville Cemetery.
The family would like thank Dr. Vincent Hansen and the team of caregivers at the McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.
